Lakshya - The Theatre Society of Kamala Nehru College began in 2002 as a group of students, passionate about theatre. The Society works to sensitise people of the realities of the society we live in, questioning existing stereotypes as well as providing solutions to social ills. The society produces thought provoking plays on social topics like human trafficking to political issues such as freedom of expression on the lines of nationalism. Lakshya brings out hidden talents in the students, provides a stage for artists, scriptwriters, musicians, and anyone who is ready to commit and contribute to the society.
Lakshya is one of the most recognized societies in the Delhi University Theatre Circuit. The society not only actively takes part in competitions across Delhi but also participates in various events held outside the state, for instance at Lahore, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, etc.
The society also hosts a renowned, two day long theatre festival annually “Concoction” where each day is designated to Stage Play Competition and Street Play Competition respectively alongside interesting events where famous personalities like Nizami brothers and Parvez Hassan entertain the audience.
The contribution of the society can be witnessed in the success of our alumni who are working as assistant directors, actors, scriptwriters, and filmmakers in various web series and short films. The present members of the society continue to work in this creative field while contributing to the society as well as their careers.
