Luminoso, the fine arts society is the creative force of Kamala Nehru college. Our work is focused towards improvising the aesthetics of our college campus, and providing students a platform to showcase their arts and crafts talent. Over the past five year years our annual college festival decorations have been appreciated both in print media and social media. As a part of creating awareness towards Indian art forms we have painted various murals across our campus. These paintings are a combination of folk, regional and modern Indian paintings concept. We have also organised exhibition/sale of students hand crafted items at the college, the motto is to help them turn their “passion into profession”. Some of our ex-students are now pursuing art professionally as an accessories designer, Madhubani painter, Sachi paper craft. We hold workshops, inter and intra college art competitions all with the aim of encouraging students creative ability.
Our society’s motto is to help students learn new art forms through workshops and we tried our best to continue doing so. With the pandemic the virtual world became our learning ground and we held a couple of workshops for our students. In the month of September, we held two workshops. On 19th September 2020, we held an online workshop with Ms. Smriti Sangal on Clay Sculpting, making the clay using edible materials and giving it beautiful shapes and colours. On 26th September, 2020, we held a Quilling workshop conducted by our ex-student Ms. Geetanjali Wadhwa. Out student convenors Mehak Bothra and Shoubhika Bhatia very actively have been working on our Instagram page sharing work done by Luminoso over the years. We began with a series of DIY videos “Luminoso Hues to Drive Away Corona Blues” made by our students, the idea was to keep people happily engaged with art and crafts in the covid environment where most of us have been homebound
On 25th November, 2020 we held an orientation for our first semester students to introduce the society to them.
On 23rd January, 2021, a workshop was conducted by Ms. A.P. Payal on “Creating a Comic Strip” on the theme of Covid and its effects.
As we step into the new year we will continue holding more workshops and keeping our student members creatively engaged.
