An adventure into the world of Philosophy makes the student an active inquirer and a thinker who learns to solve problems and does not remain a passive learner, memorizing the ideas.
The Philosophy department of the college has consistently excelled in academics and co-curricular activities. It admits students from various streams and they secure high marks and positions of merit in the University of Delhi.
The annual philosophy Day—Eidos, is organised each year wherein interface between scholars and students is arranged. Eminent scholars from University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Universities abroad and from various walks of life are invited to address students on topics pertaining to syllabus. The department even arranges classroom lectures for specialised papers by professors of other colleges and universities.
The various inter-college competitions in Eidos give students an opportunity to bring out their latent talents. C-n-Speak(picture extempore), Splash (paint without brush), quiz, debate and paper reading competitions provide students a canvas for their creativity and intellectual expression. The annual Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan memorial lecture is organised on 5thSeptember each year on contemporary philosophical themes.
The students release the department’s newsletter cum magazine Reflection annually. This gives them a platform to reflect on various issues and analyse them philosophically. They maintain the department's wallpaper highlighting various social, political and ethical issues. Lately the department has been organising the national seminars as sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research.
