The discipline of Political Science is one of the most academically and professionally enriching subjects in social sciences. The carefully designed syllabus, ranging from traditional political thought to contemporary human rights, enables students to pursue various professions like law, academics, journalism, civil services, research and the social sector. It's interdisciplinary nature contributes to broader horizons of knowledge and new avenues of research and professions for the students.
We have an esteemed faculty that takes keen interest in not only enhancing the academic calibre of students but their wholistic growth as well. The students are encouraged and guided to participate in various seminars, debates, lectures and other competitions by our Political Science Association and other institutions which facilitate their interaction with students of other colleges.
There are a number of sponsored scholarships and monetary rewards awarded to the top scorers in the department and other extra- curricular achievements.
The department organises its annual academic day 'Politik' that largely comprises of an academic session by renowned scholars around contemporary debates in political science and informal activities on a political theme that includes participation from other colleges at the University. The theme of 'Politik' this year was 'Women and Work: Contemporary debates and Challenges'.
The department also brings out an annual newsletter 'Interface', a collection of thematic essays, debates, political critiques
and poetry by students of the department that is supervised by an editorial team of faculty members and students.
The department has a record of good results and boasts of a rich alumnae with students who have accomplished in various fields like academics, law, media,civil services and social sector.
