“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”
Sangeetika - the Indian Music Society is a small effort to keep alive the rich tradition of Indian music. It provides a platform to students who are keen to learn and practice Indian classical as well as other genres of music. All important functions of the college always begin with the performance of Sangeetika choir. Synchronisation, harmony, rhythm, and melody are the hallmark of the choir.
The society is known for its experimentation with music and has brought immense laurels to Kamala Nehru College over the years in and outside Delhi. Sangeetika choir was recently invited for an interview cum performance by Red FM 93.5 Bajate Raho. One of the exclusive features of Sangeetika is the annual inter-college music competition ‘Swaranjali’ held during the college festival Ullas where besides choir (vocal) stage has also been provided for budding instrumentalists (solo). Eminent artists and music critiques have graced the competition as judge. The participation has always been overwhelming. Some of the former members of Sangeetika choir G. Sowmya, Parmita Mathur, Varsha, Debashree Basu are still contributing to the realm of music.
