Wide Angle, The Film Society of Kamala Nehru College was founded with the objective of engaging students in the art of cinema. The motive is that through regular screenings of interesting films encompassing various genres, students of the college would become more involved in interpreting diverse themes which form an integral part of contemporary society. In order to enhance understanding of crucial aspects governing human life these screenings are followed by discussions moderated by faculty members and often accomplished personalities from the field of cinema itself.
THE WIDE ANGLE, film society of Kamala Nehru College screened some of the very good movies, which was not just about popularity but try to present different aspects of our society. For instance it showed movies like “Placebo”, in the session January to April 2019. In the month of September, it showed “the episode of nose dive of black mirror which had a running time of one hour three minutes. Another screening took place the same month of the movie “Tasveerein”, in collaboration with the sci-fi: for a healthy mind and the jigsaw Company, a start- up organization.
Another event took place in which, the collaboration of the Department of sociology and Wide Angle took place with the German embassy who had organised the second Indo German film Festival on active ageing and this event took place on 30 September 2019, the venue was the new seminar room.
After every screening there was a discussion either by in house panel and students, which makes these screenings really fruitful.
