The department of history commenced the year 2022, with a movie screening “To kill a king” on 21st January, by Ms. Vinita Malik for semester IV students. In continuation with the guest lecture series the department organised an online lecture titled “Travel, Trauma, History- Creating Graphic Narrative” by Ms. A.P. Payal on 6th February, 2022. This was followed by an online lecture presented by Mr. Amardeep Singh titled ‘’Nanakpanthis of Indus’’ on 16th February. As a part of the “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” the students of history honours worked on an exhibition display showcasing the contribution of female freedom fighters during August, 2022. In September, the students worked on another exhibit tracing the historical relevance of the college’s location through a visual documentation. Semester VI students created the departmental wallpaper on the theme of Temple Architecture, including the Nagara, Dravida and Vesara architectural traditions. On 17th December, Dr. M.V. Shobhana Warrier took the semester I history honours students for a visit to the National Museum. The student and faculty are engaged in organising a departmental trip to the city of Amritsar, and working on the next edition of the departmental newsletter Chronicle.
